Losar Celebration and Free Webcast Viewing

Fire ritualJoin us at Serenity Ridge on Saturday, March 4, as we celebrate Losar, the Tibetan New Year, and view a special Losar message from Geshe Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche and Ligmincha's resident lamas from around the world. FireBird-289x300

Losar, which in Tibetan means “new year,” is celebrated widely by Tibetans and Tibetan Bön and Buddhist centers throughout the world. The year 2017 is the "Year of the Fire Bird." 

The day's schedule: 
8:45–10 a.m.:  Sang Chod (fire ceremony) and raising of new prayer flags (outdoors in front of the gompa)
10–10:30 am..: Tea
10:30–11:45 a.m.: Viewing of live Losar webcast with Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche and Ligmincha resident lamas 
11:45 a.m.–12:30 p.m.: Lighting candles and offering khatas to Nyame Sherap Gyaltsen (founder of Menri Monastery in Tibet in 1405)
12:30–2 p.m.: Potluck lunch (dining hall; please bring a dish to share)
2–3 p.m.: Clean up
